A Few Words
Hi, my name is Rachel Cucinotta and I am Theorem Geo’s in-house meteorologist! I was brought in July 2019 to help with predictive outage modeling. I specialize in the day-to-day summertime airmass thunderstorms that produce strong localized wind gusts and use that knowledge to build statistical models designed to estimate power outages based on various meteorological predictors.
My fascination with weather can be traced back to my childhood when the creek next to my house would flash flood during heavy rain events; I can remember setting up a pretend newsroom in my garage and walking out toward the creek for “live coverage.” I moved to North Carolina from New Jersey several years ago for college. In my time here in the South, I have completed a B.S. and M.S. in Meteorology, as well as a Master’s Certificate in GIS, all at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Outside of work, I enjoy being outdoors (backpacking, camping, hiking), spending time with friends, and music.
